Twenty six days of colour – Zucchini #AtoZchallenge

Well there you go.  I’ve made it to the end.  It doesn’t matter what I write really.  It’s like a scuffed goal in football, they all count and if they get you across the line then all the better.

Zucchini, we call them courgettes.  I have no idea why the same fruit has different names.  It turns out it is a long story.  Yes, I know it looks like a vegetable but then so does a tomato.  They are members of the squash family and Italian for a squash is zuccho and French for a squash is courge.  The ‘ini’ and ‘ette’ are diminutives.  So know I do know.

Zucchini green, but they can be stripy for even yellow. The longest one ever gown was over 2.5 metres.

They’re lovely grilled or fried in butter with some onions.  I think they have a pleasant and slightly milky taste.

See you next year.
