Are you looking for that get away with a difference? Then look no further than Holiday Homes in the Sky.
This new holiday company is offering a unique opportunity to take a break in the small apartments that are located at the top of the wind turbines that are popping up all over our rural landscape. Not many people know this but behind the blades there is a small room that not only holds the generator that converts the energy in the rotor into useable electricity but also a self-contained one bedroom flat with twin beds, a galley style kitchen and a small sitting room.
‘The views are stunning’ says Courtney Bloom, booking coordinator for the youthful travel firm ‘and you can really feel that you have escaped far from the huddled masses. All of the comforts that you need are on hand and of course there’s as much free electricity that you can possibly use.’
The rooms are located nearly ninety metres from the ground and offer panoramic views of some of the finest country in the United Kingdom. Rooms are even available in the wind turbines positioned out at sea if you are in the mood to really get away from it all.
‘Of course they are not for everyone’ adds Courtney, ‘you have to be pretty fit to get up all of those stairs and you have to be prepared to be a little self-sufficient, after all you cannot just nip out for a pint of milk. You also need to like the colour grey! Bookings are going very well especially from those in search of something a little whacky, off the wall perhaps but we are also getting a lot of interest from older couples who’ve just had enough of life on the ground.’
Prices start from as low as £45 per person per night in the low season but availability can be limited especially in the school holidays or when X Factor is on the television. For more information contact www.holidayhomesinthesky.org and the online avatars will be happy to help.
