Goodbye old friend. We’ve known each other for a long time, over twenty years but now you are gone. You were such a part of our family, generous of spirit and radiating warmth into the hearts of everyone you came into contact with. I can still see you in your favourite corner of the kitchen, whatever the weather and whatever the season, cheering the place up and making the house a home.
But now there is a void in the house, empty spaces which you used to occupy. Your favourite pipes are gone along with the yellow jacket you used to wear to keep warm and the cupboard above the stairs is hollow and vacant. Even the stuff you kept in the loft has disappeared, erased from our memories. It’s as if you had never existed.
But you did and I want to remember you as you were when you were young, strong and robust, always beavering away at something. Of late though you had been sighing and groaning and finding it harder and harder to carry on. I was worried that you wouldn’t make it through this winter and so it’s probably best that you have passed during the easier months of the summer, slipped away.
Goodbye old friend, I will not forget you but I have already replaced you with a Baxi Neta-tec Plus Combi GA.
Rest in peace.
