In another office

How’s the consultation going? – Not too bad thanks.  We’ve met with the residents’ group and they seem happy, we’re getting some good engagement. – That’s great, it’s going to prove very useful for this peer challenge we’ve got coming up next week. – Yes, I heard about that.  Are you involved much? – Involved?  Up to my neck!  I’ve got so many things on and my flexi time is way too positive.  I’ve been asked to take the lead on the key lines of enquiry and put an information pack together.  At the moment I’m working on a position statement, something that tells our own story.  How about you? – No, I seem to have escaped it. –Lucky you! – Tell me about it, they take so much organising and we just don’t have the capacity these days, especially after the restructure. – Yes, a few of the people I know are on the redeployment register.  I hope they find something. – Me too. – So what are you up to then? – Haven’t you heard?  We’ve got this big partnership inclusion programme going, everyone local is involved but it doesn’t help that they are not all coterminous. – I know, you’d think central government would have at least got that sorted. – You’d think! It was something to do with the boundary commission I hear. – Why make something simple when you can have fun making it complicated? –  Ha ha.  The chief thinks that we’ll be held up as an exemplar on this one, perhaps even get beacon status. – Wow, sounds good. – Yeah, I’m putting together a quality impact assessment to go out with the cabinet papers tonight. – Is it cabinet already, they seem to come round so quickly? – Were you not at the scoping meeting?  We had an external facilitator, quite good really, they helped us to paint the jigsaw lid and they’ve worked with us to design a balanced score card, with targets and metrics, that sort of thing. – They can be really useful, especially when you have a multi-agency group. – Yes, they really helped us to get our heads round the issues and it’s going to be a real help going forward. – Anyway, you’ll have to excuses me, I’ve got some diversity training in a few moments. – No problem, I should be going myself as I’m meeting up with my job shadow at half past. – See you later then. – Will do, take care.
